We grew up with eggnog, the kind you buy in a carton, and every Christmas holiday we kids drank up as much of it as we could. Eggnog is the type of drink that people either love or really really hate.

Eggnog is one of the most favored of current trending meals on earth. It’s simple, it’s quick, it tastes yummy. It’s enjoyed by millions daily. They’re fine and they look fantastic. Eggnog is something which I’ve loved my whole life.

To get started with this particular recipe, we have to first prepare a few components. You can cook eggnog using 9 ingredients and 5 steps. Here is how you cook that.

The ingredients needed to make Eggnog:
  1. Take 1 cup Milk
  2. Take 1/2 cup Cream
  3. Prepare 2-3 tablespoons Caster Sugar
  4. Get 1/4 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  5. Get 2 Egg Yolks
  6. Take 1 tablespoons Caster Sugar
  7. Take 4 tablespoons Brandy and/or Rum *OR liquor of your choice
  8. Prepare 2 Egg Whites
  9. Prepare Grated Nutmeg *optional

Eggnog, or egg nog, is a sweetened dairy-based beverage traditionally made with milk and/or cream, sugar, beaten eggs (which gives it a frothy texture), and liquor. Whisk the egg whites into the mixture. Cook's Note: For cooked eggnog, follow In the bowl of a stand mixer, beat the egg yolks until they lighten in color. This deliciously creamy eggnog recipe is a little taste of Christmas history.

Steps to make Eggnog:
  1. Combine Milk, Cream, Sugar and Vanilla in a saucepan, and heat over a medium heat. When it started boiling, remove from heat.
  2. Place Egg Yolks and 1 tablespoon Sugar in a a bowl, use a whisk to beat until sugar is well dissolved. Then slowly whisk in the milk mixture until smooth. *Note: The temperature of the milk mixture should be over 70C which cooks egg yolk.
  3. Add Brandy and/or Rum, and mix. Cool in the fridge.
  4. Beat Egg Whites in a bowl until soft peaks form. Gently fold into chilled eggnog and combine well. *Alternatively, you blend the Egg Whites and eggnog in a blender.
  5. Serve with grated Nutmeg if you like, but I like it without Nutmeg.

I've always thought eggnog tasted like melted ice cream, which makes sense because it's basically the components of ice cream served at room temperature or chilled. Nothing says "holiday spirit" like a glass of eggnog!
