  4. Whilst cooling, line a large cake tin with greased baking paper and preheat the oven to 302° F/ 150°C.
  5. Beat in the eggs.
  6. Sift in the flour and bicarbonate of soda and then fold everything together.
  7. Pour into the tin and bake for 1 1/2 hours on the middle shelf of the oven.
  8. Leave to cool in the tin.
